Congratulations River Ridge Zone School Nurse of the Year: Chelsie Stehlik of Little River ES!

Congratulations River Ridge Zone School Nurse of the Year: Chelsie Stehlik of Little River ES!

It’s National Nurses Week and each day we’re celebrating one of our 2026 Innovation Zone Nurses of the Year … congratulations to River Ridge Zone winner: Chelsie Stehlik of Little River Elementary School!  Thank you to all our school nurses for the essential role you play in keeping our students safe and healthy so they can learn more, grow more and achieve more in CCSD than they could anywhere else.

What inspired you to become a school nurse?
What inspired me to become a school nurse is my desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children in my local community. This role gives me the opportunity to build strong relationships not only with students, but also with their families. From treating minor injuries to supporting students through more serious medical concerns, I can provide comfort, care, and reassurance when it is needed most.

What is most rewarding about being a school nurse?
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a school nurse is the ability to have a positive impact on student’s day during their most vulnerable moments. Many students who come to the clinic do not feel their best, whether they are sick or injured, and I value the opportunity to be able to care for them during their time of need. Building trust and becoming a consistent, compassionate presence in their lives is incredibly fulfilling.

How do you elevate the excellence in your school?
In my role, I elevate the excellence by fostering a safe and healthy learning environment. I collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support a culture of care that contributes to student success. I am passionate about educating students on health and wellness, knowing that this not only benefits each individual child, but also strengthens the well-being of the entire school community.
