Digital Citizenship Certification Renewed for Sixes ES

Sixes Elementary School has earned the renewal of its national digital citizenship certification!

The national nonprofit organization Common Sense has awarded the school with re-certification through 2024.  The designation recognizes the school’s efforts in teaching digital citizenship, including responsible technology use and critical thinking skills, and engaging the entire school community in the initiative.

Principal Dr. Ashley Kennerly praised media specialist Elizabeth Wall for her work to achieve the re-certification.

Ms. Wall, who additionally is individually certified by Common Sense, uses the organization’s resources as part of her digital citizenship lessons on topics including internet safety and avoiding cyberbullying, managing online relationships, protecting personal privacy and online reputation, understanding plagiarism and media literacy and balance.

“Sixes Elementary School deserves high praise for giving its students the foundational skills they need to compete and succeed in the 21st-century workplace and participate ethically in society at large," said Kelly Mendoza, vice president of education programs at Common Sense Education. “We applaud the faculty and staff for embracing digital citizenship as an important part of their students’ education.”
