What’s the most innovative idea that you’ve tried in your classroom?
I love to focus on collaborative learning in my classroom. I love encouraging students to teach each other or work in groups to solve problems and complete tasks. This is so beneficial for students because it helps them form friendships and fosters teamwork skills.
Who is the best teacher you ever had and what made him or her special?
Having grown up in Cherokee County, I can honestly say that I think I have had the best teachers ever! One teacher who stands out to me, though, is my first-grade teacher Mrs. Hughes. She made me feel right at home by being so kind, and she was passionate about teaching.
What can parents do to prepare their children for learning?
It is very important that parents empower their child to seek help and ask questions from their teachers. Not only does this help students receive the support that they need, but it is also essential in helping teachers form relationships with students!
What are the obstacles to getting all kids to achieve?
I believe the biggest obstacle in getting kids to achieve is a lack of motivation. Teachers and parents can use everyday learning experiences to inspire children to learn more. This can be achieved by having conversations with them about what they have learned and how to apply it to their lives.
