Meet the New Principal: Adam Johnson of ACTIVE Academies!

Our Principals are dedicated leaders, and as we look forward to the first day of school on Aug. 1, we’re introducing you to our new Principals …

ACTIVE Academies Principal Adam Johnson is ready to lead CCSD’s most unique campus, which is home to four different programs including our virtual high school.

A 17-year educator, Mr. Johnson most recently served as an assistant principal at Woodstock High School, overseeing curriculum, STEM and Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE).

He began his education career as a paraprofessional at Cherokee High School, where he then served as a Special Education teacher.  Mr. Johnson also has served as CCSD’s summer school administrator.  These roles all have prepared him for the diversity of ACTIVE’s programs, which include ACE Academy, Cherokee College & Career Academy (C3), i-Grad Virtual Academy, and Transition Academy.

He and his wife Linda, who is a substitute teacher, have two children, who both attend CCSD schools.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
“I’m excited to collaborate with the various academies that serve our students and community in such meaningful and unique ways.  Each academy plays a vital role in providing students with opportunities to engage deeply in their learning, helping them grow both academically and personally.  The dedicated staff who make these programs exceptional share a deep passion for students and for education.  I look forward to working alongside them, learning with our students, and continuing to expand our capacity to serve the district with excellence.”

How will you elevate the excellence this school year?
“Elevating the Excellence is a powerful phrase -- it acknowledges the great work already happening while embracing the belief that growth is always possible.  At ACTIVE Academies, we will elevate excellence by expanding student choice and creating personalized educational experiences that meet each learner where they are.  Our goal is to support students in growing and learning more under our watch than they could anywhere else.”

How can parents be more involved with your school?
“Parents can be involved through volunteering at school events, serving on advisory committees, and supporting classroom activities.  We also encourage engagement through regular communication with teachers and participation in parent workshops or family nights.  Their partnership is essential in fostering a strong school community and student success.”
