New Teasley Middle School Driveway Will Ease Car Rider Traffic Congestion

New Teasley Middle School Driveway Will Ease Car Rider Traffic Congestion

One of several capital improvement projects nearing completion for the start of school is the new driveway at Teasley Middle School.  Funded with Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (Ed SPLOST), the improved car rider driveway is designed to ease congestion for current car riders and pave the way for better traffic flow with the opening of the neighboring new replacement Cherokee High School campus next school year.  Thank you to the School Board for its support of this much-needed safety improvement for Teasley families and the surrounding community!

The design will increase the campus drive capacity for vehicles by 130%, preventing cars from stacking up on Reservoir Drive and causing additional traffic congestion. Parents will continue to use Hickory Log Drive to enter (and exit) the campus, but the campus entry point has moved. Drivers will continue up the hill in the left lane and prepare to enter the campus with a left turn at the top of the hill. The Teasley Middle School sign has been moved to the new entry point, parents should look for the brick sign structure and prepare to make the turn.   As before, once on campus the car rider line will form in the right lane for a single line of traffic flow, exiting the campus by turning right onto Hickory Log Drive.  (graphic image below)

Parents will pick up and drop off students in the same zone as past years in front of the main school entrance. An additional safety measure was put in place this week when the City of Canton activated a new traffic light at Reservoir Drive and Reinhardt College Parkway, a short distance from the Teasley entrance.

· The new drive allows for stacking 140 vehicles in the car rider line (130% increase in capacity)

· The reconfiguration created 34 new parking spaces by relocating main drive entrance

· Additional bus-only entrance/exit will be created on the north side of campus off Reservoir Drive

· This project was approved by the School Board and paid for with Ed SPLOST funds
