Teacher Appreciation Month Spotlight: Leigh Anne Powell of ACTIVE Academies - i-Grad Virtual Academy!
In honor of Teacher Appreciation Month, we’re celebrating a school 2025 Teacher of the Year each day! Special Education teacher Leigh Anne Powell, a 16-year educator, is the Teacher of the Year for ACTIVE Academies - i-Grad Virtual Academy.
“She is an exceptional educator and a compassionate and dedicated individual who has profoundly impacted the lives of her students, including my son, during an incredibly challenging time in our lives,” shared the mom of a former student. “Mrs. Powell took the time to build a genuine connection with my son, regularly checking in with him and offering encouragement. She made herself available for extra help, ensuring that he stayed on track academically despite the personal challenges he was facing. Her patience and unwavering belief in him gave him the confidence to persevere. Thanks to her extraordinary efforts, my son not only met all his graduation requirements, but also regained a sense of hope and self-worth. Mrs. Powell was a beacon of light for him in a very dark time, and her impact extends far beyond the classroom. She exemplifies the qualities of a Teacher of the Year — compassion, dedication, and the ability to transform lives.”
