Teachers and Staff Get a Peek at New Free Home Elementary
Teachers and staff of Free Home Elementary School were able to get a preview of their new building today with a walkthrough of the replacement school that will open its doors for the 2025-26 school year. The new school, which was completed on time and under budget -- and without use of bonds or borrowed funds in keeping with the School Board’s dedication to strong financial stewardship, sits just around the corner from the original school on Hwy. 20.
Teachers and staff were amazed by the expanded space and built-in safety features of the new school and cannot wait to begin engaging students in the new classrooms, media center, art and music rooms and more. The new facility encompasses more than 116,000 square feet of learning space, more than three times the existing 1956 structure, and increases the student enrollment capacity from 300 to 850.
Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis joined the teachers at the end of the tour to get their impressions of the new space. The staff-only early tour was suggested by the teachers at a focus group meeting last year.
A community Open House is planned for April 29. #ElevateTheExcellence
