WHS Grad Becomes First County Firefighter Hired from Career Pathway Program

Woodstock High School recognized Tatum Schoonmaker last night as the first CCSD student to earn firefighter certification through the firefighting career pathway at WHS, and she also is the first CCSD pathway completer to be hired by Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services.  Surrounded by family and friends, as well as her WHS firefighting pathway instructor Jason Watkins, WHS administrators and representatives from Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services, Tatum was presented with an ax bearing her name and helmet plate displaying,  "Wolverines," her name and the number 1.

Tatum, a 2024 graduate of Woodstock HS, is currently attending Cherokee Fire's Firefighter and Advanced EMT recruit training program.  The presentation took place Tuesday night between the Varsity Girls and Boys basketball games in the Woodstock HS gym.

The firefighting career pathway is one of 44 pathways offered by CCSD high schools.  For more information, see the Focus on the Future handbook on our website at https://bit.ly/ccsdctae.
