After School Program Info
The After School Program is available at most elementary schools from the end of the school day until 6 p.m. The daily rate is $12 per day, per child if used by the week, $15 per child if used by the day. $20 for unscheduled drop-ins.

Fine Arts Academy
The Cherokee Academies, which include STEM Academies, a Fine Arts Academy and STEAM Academy, provide kindergarten through fifth grade a climate of high expectation, discipline and academic rigor. Based on the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE), the comprehensive Fine Arts Academy program provides opportunities for students to develop a sense of craftsmanship, quality task performance and goal-setting skills needed to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
Georgia Pre-K
Georgia Lottery Pre-K for 4-year-olds is offered at Ball Ground ES STEM Academy, Hasty ES Fine Arts Academy, Holly Springs ES STEM Academy, Johnston ES Preschool, Oak Grove ES Fine Arts Academy and RM Moore ES STEM Academy. The application window opens each year in March for the upcoming school year.
Gifted Eligibility
Student eligibility guidelines for gifted education services in Georgia may be found in State Board of Education (SBOE) Rule 160-4-2-.38 EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR GIFTED STUDENTS [Code IDDD(2)]. The Cherokee County School District’s Gifted Education Program follows these guidelines in its eligibility process. Inclement Weather Information
When the decision is made to close schools, the notice will be emailed to all parents and placed on the home page of our website. When school is closed for the day, all school activities for that day/evening are also cancelled. Kindergarten Registration Age
Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1 in order to be eligible for kindergarten, and 6 years old on or before September 1 to be eligible for first grade, according to Georgia law. If your child does not meet these criteria, you might check with the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) for information on 4-year-old programs. Additionally, the School Board's Admission/Enrollment Policy may be viewed in the CCSD Online Policy Manual.
Lunch Account
Lunch is $2.45 for elementary students, $2.70 for middle and high school students, and $3.75 for student meals from the high school Grill Line. Breakfast is $1.60 for all students. Free and reduced price meals are available for eligible students; the online application can be accessed through https://linqconnect.com/. Account Balance: You can access your child’s lunch account online through the app or website at LinqConnect . You can view the balance and add funds online. More information on Lunch/Meal Accounts can be found on the School Nutrition website.

*If your child attended kindergarten at any CCSD elementary school last year, then he is automatically registered for the first grade at that school.
Renting a CCSD Facility
Community facility use requests must start with the school principal/worksite location supervisor. Depending on the nature of the request, there are rental fees, utility fees and custodial fees assessed for usage by an outside group. Please see the Facility Use Guidelines and Forms page for more information.

School Reassignment
You can apply for Student Reassignment by contacting the Office of School Leadership & Operations. General school reassignments are considered each spring (apply Feb 1-March 1 for consideration). School Board Policy JBCC addresses questions regarding enrollment at a school outside your attendance zone; that policy can be accessed in the CCSD Online Policy Manual.

Special Ed Evaluation
Cherokee County School District offers comprehensive Special Education services to eligible students ages 3 through 21 years old. Children from birth to age 3 with disabilities will be referred to appropriate agencies for services. All referrals are considered confidential, and services are provided at no cost. The parent, legal guardian, or surrogate parent retains the right to refuse services and is provided other procedural safeguards under federal and state law. Standards & Curriculum
From the Georgia Department of Education: “The Georgia Performance Standards provide clear expectations for instruction, assessment, and student work. The performance standard incorporates the content standard, which simply tells the teacher what a student is expected to know (i.e., what concepts he or she is expected to master).” For more information, please see the CCSD Teaching & Learning Standards page.
STEM Academies and STEAM Academy
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math. STEM education integrates concepts that are usually taught as separate subjects and instead incorporates those concepts across classes, with an emphasis on applying those concepts to real-life situations. STEAM is STEM complemented by an integrated arts approach across the curriculum.
Student Recognition

Transportation/Bus Routes
Bus routes may be obtained on the Bus Routes page. Please note that bus routes are not available over the summer. New bus routes are posted in late July, prior to the start of the new school year.
