February is Black History Month and today we would like to recognize Jackie Robinson. In 1942 he was drafted to fight in World War II. His military career was cut short when he was arrested and court-martialed for refusing to move to the back of a military transport vehicle. From there he went on to play in the minor and then major leagues. His promotion to play for the Dodgers broke 60 years of segregation in major league baseball. 1962 he was inducted into the baseball hall of fame. After retiring from baseball, he worked with the NAACP and became the first black vice-president of a major corporation.Students this is a reminder that you need to have purchased a parking pass in order to park anywhere on the River Ridge campus and this includes Mill Creek.

February is Career Technical Education Month! Career and technical education (CTAE) are classes that teach specific career skills to students. Career Tech is split into 16 career clusters that apply to different high-demand careers. Here is a fact each day for why you should consider pursuing a career tech pathway: 93% of CTAE parents and students say “finding a career that I/my child feels passionate about is important”.
