Media Center

The Media Center is open for students to check out books before and after school. This is a self-checkout procedure. Digital students learning at home may also check out physical books.  All they need to do is email Elease Franchini or Stephanie Judkins with the book request.  They will arrange a pickup time and deliver the books curbside!  Students may also check out books digitally through Sora – an Overdrive student app. Students can download the app on their phones and join with the code – cherokeega.  They will use their CCSD ID and password to create an account.

Teen Leadership Cherokee, 2021


10th Grade Existing and Emerging Leaders!


Organized in 2000 and graduating its first class back in 2001, the mission of Teen Leadership Cherokee is to develop the knowledge and leadership skills of young people so they may confidently become our community’s leaders of tomorrow. To accomplish this mission, the Teen Leadership Cherokee Program offers a series of class sessions to explore topics such as – community involvement, personal development, team building, and educational and economic responsibility. Participants will develop a sense of community while discovering the impact of teamwork upon their peers, their schools, and Cherokee County.


The young men and women selected to participate in Teen Leadership Cherokee must attend school in Cherokee County and/or live in Cherokee County, demonstrate outstanding qualities as existing or potential leaders and possess the desire to effect change in their community. Participants’ academic achievements and responsibilities – working after school, active participation in school functions or membership in other organizations – will be reviewed during the selection process. The class is limited to 20 participants.

Applications will be accepted February 1 - 22, 2021. Classes will begin in March.

Spring 2021 Virtual Probe Tour

Spring Probe is a chance for seniors who haven't finalized their post-high school plans to learn more, as well as an opportunity for rising sophomores and juniors to begin the college search process

The tour will be held virtually, Monday, March 8, 2021 beginning at 5:00 PM EST.


There will be three 45-minute blocks offered (5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, 7:00 PM) with multiple sessions offered during each block. Up to six colleges will present during each session.

Early Checkouts

Parents, please remind your students to check out in attendance BEFORE they leave the building, even if you have sent in a note and they are driving themselves. All early checkouts must be done at the attendance office in the main building.  (Even if the student is on the East campus).

PSAT Test Results

Paper score reports are being held by the Collegboard due to school closures. Students can access their scores by logging into and creating an account. If they do not see their score, they can use the ‘Matching Tool’ or call Student Help Line 866-433-7728 or email .

If your student missed the PSAT due to Quarantine, you will be receiving an informational email this week regarding the make-up date.

Georgia Scholar Program:

The Georgia Department of Education identifies and honors high school seniors who have excelled academically and in their community. Each Scholar receives a seal for his/her diploma, there are no scholarship monies awarded. Eligible students have carried exemplary course loads; excelled academically; participated in interscholastic events at school and in the community and held leadership roles in activities sponsored by SHS. The application deadline is February 12, 2021. Criteria and Application

CCSD Dual Enrollment Program

Certificate of School Enrollment and ADAP

The enrollment form is required to receive a learner permit and/or driver’s license. Students can obtain it in Student Service. (only valid for 30 days from issue date)

ADAP form is required to get a driver license.  There is a 24 hour turnaround time for all forms. T

Can you remember a teacher or another school staff member from your childhood who made a positive difference in your life?  Did you ever thank them? Through #thanksCCSD, students can thank a CCSD staff member by filling out a notecard and placing it in a special box at school in Student Services.  While students have the opportunity to fill out a card at school, they also can complete an online form at any time.

Are you looking for a great leadership opportunity or perhaps something to add to your high school resume?  The Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program (HOBY) has provided transformative leadership development training that has positively impacted the lives of over 6,000 high school students in the U.S. and abroad. Navigating the post-high school career path can feel scary and overwhelming.  The numerous post-high school options and training costs involved require knowledge and planning. 

GaDOE and the Construction Industry is hosting a Parent Information Night called: 

The Ultimate Guide to Career Options & Choices for Parents & High School Students on February 16 @ 6:30pm

Workshop presenters will explore the five paths to preparing for a career, cost of college versus technical schools versus apprenticeships, and how students and parents can best prepare for their chosen career paths.  

Following the webinar, topic-specific breakouts rooms will be available to parents and students.  Breakout rooms will provide parents and students the opportunity to ask questions to industry representatives, education representatives and military representatives.  A complete list of breakout sessions will be available before the webinar. 19th Annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) Festival

Hospitality Careers Academy

Do you have a student that is interested in Business, Marketing, Culinary Arts, Hotel/Lodging Management or Event Planning? The Academy is a terrific summer opportunity, during the week-long Academy, students will listen to guest speakers in the industry, participate in job shadowing and industry tours, take part in team building and leadership activities. All while working towards the culminating project that integrates the skills and information they have gained throughout the week. Also, applications for the University of North Georgia Military Scholarship are currently open! The state of Georgia offers 42 fully funded scholarships per year to Georgia high school seniors who attend the University of North Georgia and commission as officers in the Georgia Army National Guard after graduating with bachelor's degrees.  Application fee waiver codes are available through your HS counselor until February 1st, 2021.



The Georgia Tech Women in Engineering Program is excited to announce its 6th Annual Students Exploring Engineering (SEE) event for female freshmen and sophomores in high school.

SEE offers female high school freshmen and sophomores the opportunity to explore the possibilities of engineering.  The day consists of an overview of the various engineering disciplines, guidance and advice from an admissions counselor, and an interactivity with Texas Instruments. 

This year's SEE event will be held virtually Tuesday, February 9, from 9:00AM to 2:30PM, at no cost.

Scholarship Expanded Georgia Southwestern is excited to announce the expansion of the Southwestern Promise Scholarship, which now guarantees scholarships of $1,000 to beginning freshmen entering GSW, Fall 2021, who meet the minimum required GPA of 3.5.

The scholarship automatically renews each year, up to four years, for students who maintain a 3.0 college GPA.

The Beauty + Wellness Scholarship for Women

Each quarter we award two $500 scholarships + a care package filled with healthy organic goodies to high school women who are striving to maintain their health and wellness as they pursue their higher education goals.

Sawnee Electric Membership Foundation Scholarship

The Sawnee Electric Membership Foundation has awarded scholarships to our high school seniors for 15 years totaling 167 scholarships and $627,500. The past few years, the scholarships have been very generous ranging from $4,000 to $5,000 per winning student.


This year we are also offering a Lineman’s scholarship for students interested in working in our industry as a Lineman. A copy of that application is also attached. You will notice there is no deadline for the Lineman scholarship.  The completed application and all other required documents must be received no later than 5:00 P.M. on Friday, February 12, 2021.  Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.


Cimarron Ridge Legal Group Car Accident Scholarship

This scholarship is available to all high school seniors and current college students who are planning on entering the law field. We understand how difficult it can be to pay for college and law school, and we want to help someone afford a better education

Summer Opportunity


UNG – Summer Critical Language

The Summer Language Institutes are carefully tailored language programs of study in Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Russian.

SLI academics are challenging, and thoroughly rewarding! By successfully completing this 6-week summer session, SLI participants earn 8 academic credit hours to fulfill the 1001-1002 foreign language required for most bachelor’s degrees at UNG.

SLI activities are engaging and fun, with emphasis on learning the target language along with its related cultures.
