Nine CCSD basketball teams are in the hunt for a state title after the close of region tournaments last week. Cherokee HS Girls team and the Etowah Eagles Boys team each earned Region Champion titles, while seven additional teams earned playoff berths. The first round of State basketball tournament play gets underway this Friday and Saturday. Region seeding determines home court advantage.

Admission is $7 at the door (for double-header games, like at Cherokee HS Friday, admission is $10). The tournament is single elimination. Winners will advance to the second round Feb. 20-21 (during February break), with third round the following week. Semi-finals are March 2; Championships are March 9 at the Macon Centreplex.
