The Cherokee County School District has created a model of Social and Emotional Learning. The CCSD model identifies five core competencies as skills students need to be successful in school and beyond: self-management, self-awareness, social awareness/empathy, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills. Social and emotional competencies can be taught to children and the skills can be emphasized through literature. Social and emotional skills can be explored through literature.
