Each week CCSD will post the active COVID-19 cases per school on this page, both staff and student cases. Cases are considered active for a minimum of 5 days, in accordance with new CDC guidance.
Parents will be notified via email if there is a positive case confirmed in their child's classroom or on their child's bus, as well as sports teams, clubs or programs (e.g., ASP), so they can monitor their child for symptoms. CCSD is not requiring quarantines for close contacts in the school setting. Data from the 2020-21 school year in which CCSD issued more than 22,000 required quarantines to students and staff show that less than 1% of those close contacts resulted in a positive case.
Students and staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 or are awaiting a pending test must not return to school until at least five days after symptoms began, and only then if they are fever free for 24 hours (without fever reducing medication) and symptoms are subsiding. Upon returning to school after this five-day quarantine, students are encouraged to wear a mask until the 10th day from the onset of symptoms. Employees who are eligible to return will be required to wear a mask until the 10th day. If your child tests positive for COVID-19, please contact the school front office so a school nurse can review these protocols with you and so class notifications can be made. We expect employees and students' parents to follow doctor's instructions, including if they are told to quarantine due to a positive case in their household.
Students and staff must not come to school with a fever of 100.4 or higher, and must not come to school until they have been fever-free, without the use of fever-reducing medication, for at least 24 hours.
Note: Positive cases include cases documented by Department of Public Health (DPH), verified lab result, physician documentation or COVID-19 home test kit. CCSD began tracking cases during the pre-planning period, starting July 26.

FAQS
Q: “I’ve heard there’s a case at my school, why isn’t it in the total?”
A: Our process is confirm a case and make any needed notifications, and then list current (not cumulative) totals to this page every Friday. As the timeline for test results can vary, the date a case is posted can lag behind the actual test date by several days.
Q: “I know someone who has been absent for more than a week. Is this a positive case we have not been made aware of?”
A: All extended absences are not positive cases. Many situations (another illness, an injury, staying home with a quarantined child, etc.) could cause an absences of multiple days.
