After School Program

The After-School Program (ASP) will begin on the first student day of school each year.  The program operates from 2:15-6:00 PM, Monday through Friday on days when regular school is in session. ASP is not offered on the last day before the winter holiday break and it is also not offered on the last day of school.  ASP operates as an extension of the instructional day for the benefit of the students at Johnston.  It functions under the guidelines established by the Cherokee County Board of Education.

All children must be registered before attending ASP.  Students must have been present at school on the day they attend ASP.  Students may not be absent or check out and then return for ASP.  Registration forms will be available online..  The fee per child is $12.00 per day or $60.00 per week. ASP fees are expected to be paid in advance.  The charge is $16.00 per day for “drop-ins.”  A drop in occurs when a parent or guardian requests for their child to attend ASP after 10:00am that day.  ASP ends promptly at 6:00 p.m. Any parent arriving after that time will be responsible for paying a late fee of $10.00 per 15-minute increment per child.  The child is subject to withdrawal from ASP after 3 late pickups or 3 incidents of inappropriate conduct. ASP offers a variety of activities.  A nutritious snack, including a bottle of water, is provided daily and is included in the fee.

ASP offers a wide array of clubs and classes throughout the school year.  These may include, but are not limited to, karate, dance, crafts, art, science and sports-related activities.
